Characterization of Bulgarian sunflower cultivars and inbred lines with microsatellite markers

Eight Bulgarian sunflower (Helianthus annuus) hybrids and 6 inbred lines were genotyped at 18 microsatellite markers. The determined microsatellite allelic profiles allowed accurate identification and discrimination of all tested accessions. The low level of polymorphism (mean number of alleles per locus - 7 and genetic diversity - 0.42) was found among studied hybrids. The obtained data were used for assessment of homogeneity of the sowing msterial. The parentage of five of the tested varieties is confirmed trough microsatellite analysis.
