In the period of 2005-2006, the symptoms, the life cycle and the morphological characteristics of Botryosphaeria obtusа (Schwein) Shoemaker (anamorph Sphaeropsis malorum Peck.) were traced in the apple plantations of the village of Kopilovtzi, district of Kyustendil. On the grounds of microscopic observations, the morphological peculiarities of the asexual form (Sphaeropsis malorum) were traced from the development of the agent of the black rot on apples, and its place in the life cycle of the pathogen was established. It was ascertained that the picnidia appear in April and the full ripening of the conidiospores is reported 35-40 days after the initiation of fruiting. The sexual form of the black rot (Botryosphaeria obtusа) in Bulgaria was established. Its morphological peculiarities were described and its place in the life cycle of the pathogen was indicated. The appearance of the peritecia was registered in October, and the ripening of the ascospores was observed in November
