Content of fatty acids in soyabean seeds depending on infestation by Amaranthus retroflexus L.

The aim of this study was determination of the environment influence on the quantity of fatty acids in the seeds of soyabean growth as a clean of weeds stand and under conditions of infestation by Amaranthus retroflexus L. The investigation was conducted in 1988-1990 on Pelic Vertisols at the research station of N. Poushkarov Institute of Soil Science – Kostinbrod and included two factors field experiment in two-field crop rotation – wheat–soybean. The trial was carried out after the perpendicular method in four replications with plot size of 10 m2. The total content of saturated and unsaturated acids didn't change considerably in cases with infestation by Amaranthus retroflexus up to the stage 'third triple leaf'of soyabean. With prolongation of the period of infestation till 'flowering'the quantities of palmitic and linoleic acids decreased while the quantity of oleic acid increased. Changes in the quantities of fatty acids could be considered as a protective reaction of plant organism to the unfavorable growth condition in competition with Amaranthus retroflexus.
