Prodctivity and technological qualities of simple and complex hybrids of sugar beet

The development of highly productive hybrids with good technological qualities is of basic importance in sugar beet breeding. Different schemes of crossing on different ploidy level are applied for this purpose. The use of fertile materials for the development of complex hybrids has not led to significant increase of the. The development of male sterile lines by the use of different sterility maintainers gives possibility for creation of crosses with high percentage of hybrid seeds. Now the productivity and technological qualities of the maternal component are significantly lower because of the fact, that it is maintained in deep inbreeding. By creation of universal pollinators it was made possible increase the heterozygosity of the maternal component, which is a precondition for higher heterosis effect. For the present there are no literature data for tests of compound monogerm hybrids of sugar beet on male sterility basis. For the creation of simple /double linear/ and complex hybrids sterility maintainers of stabilized male sterile lines have been used. In the research participate MS 6620 and MS 222, as well as F1 of MS 6620 x «О»3134 and MS 222 x «О»5144. As a paternal component are included the diploid multigerm populations 5110R and 2324 and the tetraploid populations 5314R, 5319R and KI 99. The research is made under non-irrigation conditions, using the two-seated lattice scheme with 49 variants in 4 replications. The technological qualities are determined on the automatic line Venema. The results of the research give reason to make the conclusion that the root yield of the triple linear hybrids is increased, and their technological qualities are improved. A significantly higher white sugar yield per ha is registered for some triploid hybrids.
