Research results of investigation of regularities of inheritance of traits and properties exercising influence on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) genotypes breeding for industrial processing in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus were presented. Influence of genetic systems and external factors on the degree of traits variability was determined. Content level of reducing sugars in hybrid progeny was controlled by large quantity of both additively and nonadditively acting genes. Influence of cultivation conditions of the level of the observed trait revelation was stated. Period of tubers resting was under control of rather small quantity of additively acting genes. The main morphological potato signs (character of tuber surface; form; eyes quantity and depth) in the majority of cases depended on variety peculiar features and were insignificantly influenced by the cultivation conditions. On the basis of the experimental data the scheme of selection of parental initial material for hybribization was proposed. Improved scheme of selection and technological estimation of genotypes suitable for industrial production of potato chips and French fry was presented. The proposed scheme was based on the determination of morphological signs of the necessary recombinants in the initial parental nurseries with the further gradual evaluation of biochemical properties and technological parameters. Potato varieties Zhuravinka, Zarnitsa, Kolorit suitable for potato crisps and chips production and potato varieties Zarnitsa and Colorit suitable for French fries production without tuber reconditioning from September till January were selected
