The following main barriers for potato production for processing industry were analysed: reduction of cultivation areas; lowering of potato yields up to 43 c/ha; difference between purchase price of table potato and potato for industrial processing; low starch content in potato for the industrial processing. Measures on reconstruction and re-equipment of potato processing industry, processing enterprises supply with high-starch potato varieties promoted the increasing of starch content, made it possible to organize the modified starch production, decrease import and increase export of potato products in the Republic by means of quality improvement and diversification of potato products. Measures of prepayment credits of potato production enterprises promoted the increasing of potato gross output by means of application of new high-starch varieties.
