Effect of different sizes of stem cuttings and substrates on the propagation of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) | Efecto de diferentes tamaños de esqueje y sustratos en la propagación del romero (Rosmarinus officinalis L.)

西班牙语; 卡斯蒂利亚语. El romero presenta dificultades en su propagación sexual ya que no florece con facilidad y cuando lo hace sus semillas presentan poca viabilidad. Así mismo, el enraizamiento de esquejes de romero es lento. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes tamaños de esqueje y sustratos en la propagación del romero, para lo cual se emplearon tres tamaños de esquejes (6, 8 y 10 cm) tomados de la parte apical de plantas de un año de edad, los cuales se plantaron en cuatro sustratos diferentes correspondientes a: suelo negro (SN); cascarilla de arroz quemada (CAQ); la mezcla de cascarilla de arroz quemada y suelo negro en proporción 1:1 en volumen (M), y turba rubia canadiense (TRC), para un total de doce tratamientos cada uno con cuatro repeticiones. La fitomasa seca y fresca de tallos y hojas se vió afectada principalmente por el sustrato. El tamaño del esqueje afecta la proliferación de raíces y tallos. La TRC tuvo un efecto significativo en el peso fresco y seco de las plantas de romero. La turba retiene un gran contenido de humedad y esto hizo que el mayor contenido relativo de agua (CRA) se presentara en este sustrato. La masa fresca y seca de raíces se vio influenciada principalmente por el tamaño del esqueje. El mejor tamaño de esqueje en la propagación de romero fue de 10 cm en todos los sustratos. El sustrato M fue el segundo mejor y tuvo una respuesta significativa frente a SN y CAQ

英语. Rosemary presents difficulties in sexual propagation because it does not flower easily and, when it does, the seeds present low viability. Likewise, the rooting of stem cuttings of rosemary is slow. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effect of different sizes of stem cuttings and substrates on the propagation of rosemary. Three stem cuttings sizes of 6, 8 and 10 cm were taken from the apical part of one year old plants and rooted in 4 different substrates: black soil (SN), burn rice husk (CAQ), mixture of burn rice husk and black soil in 1:1 volume proportion (M), and Canadian peat moss (TRC), making a total of 12 treatments with 4 repetitions each one. The dry and fresh weight of stems and leaves were affected mainly by the substrate type. The size of stem cuttings affected proliferation of roots and stems. The TRC had a significant effect on fresh and dry weight of rosemary plants. The Canadian peat moss accumulated a high moisture contents making the highest relative water content (CRA) in this substrate. The fresh and dry weight of roots was influenced mainly by the size of stem cuttings. The best size of stem cuttings in rosemary propagation was 10 cm in all substrates. The substrate M was the second best one and had a significant benefit when compared with SN and CAQ
