The experiment of multilocation and yield stability of 11 varieties/clones of sweet potato has been conducted on dryland area of Sei Lantung village, Samarinda municipality, Teluk Dalam and Timbau village of Kutai district. East Kalimantan, from June to November 1999. The objective of the experiment was to obtain adaptive and yielding varieties/clones suitable to consumer demand, in East Kalimantan. The experiment were arranged in a randomized block design with three replications, plot size 5 x 5 m and plant spacing was 100 x 25 cm, 1 plant/hole. Parameter observed were yield components, skin and flesh color, root shop, root dry matter and taste. The result showed varieties AB 94001-8, MIS 104-1 and local Samarinda, gave the highest yield were 18.42 t/ha, 17.50 t/ha and 12.82 t/ha. Therefore, base on the selection through all of these quality parameters and adaptation analysis, it was selected two varieties/clone to be tested further under several location. Those varieties/clone were MIS 104-1 and AB 94001-8. The increase production from local varieties 40 percent.
