Low stringency PCR with G1 and G2 primers for the identification of leptospiral serovars

Low stringency PCR which results in the amplification of specific DNA sequences defined by specific primers G1 and G2 and also a set of low stringency products with distinctive banding pattern was standardized for leptospiral serovars. This method is advantageous and requaires low numbers of organisms or quantity of DNA. The polymophism of low stringency products allows variants to be detected. The number of DNA bands and size of amplified products were found suaitable for differentation of serovars.
