Field trials for the improvement of the effectiveness of the trapping system of the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, Olivier (Coleoptera: Dryophthoridae) | Ensayos de campo para la mejora de la eficacia de las trampas de captura de Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, Olivier (Coleóptera: Dryophthoridae), picudo rojo de la palmera

Con el objetivo de mejorar el sistema de trampeo para el picudo rojo de la palmera (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, Olivier, 1790) se llevaron a cabo varios ensayos con trampas olfativas de captura en tres parcelas de palmeras (Phoenix dactylifera y P. canariensis) del campo de Elche con ataque de R. ferrugineus. Se evaluó la influencia de la posición, del diseño y color de la trampa sobre el número de capturas y la eficacia comparativa de dos tipos de difusor de feromona (Ferrolure+ y Ferag RF D TM). Durante un año se contabilizó semanalmente el número de adultos capturados distinguiendo machos y hembras. El mayor número de capturas se obtuvo en los meses de verano, se capturaron 2,5 hembras por macho. Las trampas de color pardo-rojizo y camufladas capturaron más que las de color blanco. No se observaron diferencias significativas entre los difusores de feromona ensayados. Las trampas enterradas en suelo capturaron más que las colocadas en altura.

With the objective to improve the trapping system of the red weevil of the palm (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, Olivier, 1790), several experimentations were carried out using olfactive traps in three parcels of palms (Phoenix dactylifera and P. canariensis) in the rural part of Elche with attack of R. ferrugineus. The influence of the position, of the design and of the colour of the trap as well as the effectiveness of two types of pheromone dispenser (Ferrolure+ and Ferag RF D TM) were evaluated by comparing the number of captures. During one year, was registered weakly the number of trapped adults distinguishing males and females. The biggest number of captures was obtained during the three months of summer season. The number of trapped female was 2.5 than the males one. The brown-reddish color traps and camouflaged ones captured more than those of white color. Significant differences were not observed between the two types of dispensers of pheromone that have been tried. The traps buried in floor captured more than those placed in height.
