Phenotypical evaluation , selection and selfing of S1 late and medium maturing Corn groups to produce inbred lines

Study was conducted in the Mahidasht station to phenotypical evaluation,selection and selfing of S1 inbred lines (179 lines of late and medium maturing corn groups) and production of S2 inbred lines. Experiment was carried out on 20 two rows for each lines. Elongation of the row was 8 meters and distance of hill was 50 centimeters. Planting date was done in 2 of May and first irrigation done in 4 of May. In vegetative stage selected better plants on based of phenotypic evaluation such as plant height, ear height, diameter of stem, position of leaf and tassel and… . In generation stage the plant selfed and in the harvesting time each ears of selfed plants evaluation and the best ear selected. Finely from 600 selfed plants, selected 312 lines S2.
