Effect of the sowing date of corn hybrids on the incidence of MRDV and IMMV viruses

This experiment was conducted to study the reaction of commercial corn hybrids and effect of planting date on infection rate to maize rough dwarf (MRDV) and Iranian maize mosaic (IMMV) viruses, where are dominant virus diseases in Esfahan corn fields. The experiment was in split plot, with 4 replications, in which main plot and sub plot were 3 planting dates and 4 hybrids (301, 447, 604, 704), respectively. The experiment was performed in Kabotar Abad research station, during 2000-2003. Distribution and infection rates to these viruses were determined through random surveying in different fields in various regions of Baraon, Borkhar, Ardestan and Golpaygan. Results showed that significant difference (at p0.05) was presented among hybrids and among planting dates. For population of vector, Laodelphax striatellus, highest and lowest density were on single cross 704 in third planting date, and on single cross 301 in second planting date, respectively.
