Red palm weevil (RPW), Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Oliv. (Col.: Curculionidae), is one of the most important pests of different palms in Asia, North Africa and Spain. At present, it is an internal quarantined pest in Saravan region (Sistan and Balouchistan province, Iran). Several investigations were caried out on the evaluation of the Imidaclopride ( Confidor Sc350 ) on the control of red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Oliv. ( Col.: Curculionidae, during 2002-2003 in Saravan region. The results showed that the pouring of the systemic pesticide Confidor (Sc 350) solution into soil of infested trees sunshade (8.5, 11, 15 and 20 ml in 10 litre water per tree ) were not effective for pest control. Also based on the field studies in the infested date palm groves, the diferrent doses of Confidor have similar efficacy in the before and after of irrigation as all life stages of the weevil inside palm tree were live. On the other hand, the application of 3 tablet of aluminum phosphide per tree was effective for the control of red palm weevil damage if the tablets had been distributed among pest chanels. So the application of the systemic pesticide Confidor (Sc 350) is not recommended for red palm weevil control.but the fumigation of infested date palms with aluminum phosphide tablets is efficient enough in the contol of red palm weevil.
