The effects of miconutrients on quantity and quality of sugar beet monogerm seed

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of foliage application of some microelements on sugar beet monogerm seed bearing(mother) plants(Cv. Shirin). The experiment was done in Ardabil Agricultural Research station at 2002-2003. A splitplot experiment based on randomized complet blocks design with four replications were used. Micronutrients application times(with two levels including of steckling+seed and seed production) and its combinations(with eight levels including of Control, Fe, Mn, B, Fe+Mn, Fe+B, Mn+B, Fe+Mn+B) were formed the main and sub-plots of experiment, respectively. The soil of studied place have C.L., 0.66% organic carbon and 8.88, 14.62, 0.56 and 8.46 mg/kg Fe, Mn, Zn and B, respectively and pH=7.5. In attention to results of soil test, the studied micronutrients sprayed on foliage parts of seed-bearing plants. Results showed that micronutrients application at steckling and seed production times have not significant effects on morphological, yield and qualitative characters of monogerm sugar beet seed plants. In other hand, foligae spray of Fe, Mn, and Mn+B were increased sugar beet standard-viable seed yield by 8.27, 8.09 and 9.02%, respectively and non-significantly. Use of Fe+Mn+B and Mn+B on sugar beet seedbearing plants were increased(P0.05) the portion of undersize(3.5mm) and oversize(4.5mm) seed by 20.45 and 49.06%, respectively.
