In order to study the effect of plant density on yield and yield components in grain sorghum an experiment was conducted as factorial based on compeletely randomized block design with three replications in research field of Birjand and Torough stations at 2002 and 2003 . In this study five varieties including Sepideh, Payam, Kimia and 2 promising lines (M5,M2) and 4 density 24 , 20.5 , 17 and 13.5 plant. m 2 were investigated. The anova results indicated that variesties were significantly different for biological yield, , 1000 kernel weight and leaf weight. Characteristics such as grain yield, biological yield and number of seeds per panicle were affected by density , and increase of density resulted in incraesing of grain yield, and decrease of biological yield per plant. According to the results of this experiment, M5 promising line and Kimiya cultivar in 240000 plant/ha density is recommended for maximum grain yield.
