The role of improved wheat varieties in yield potential and the importance of Fars province as the biggest wheat producer of Iran, necessitates the investment on genetic importance of wheat, which begins with hybridization. One of the most principal ways by which new varieties of self pollinated crop originate, is hybridization. In this method two lines or varieties are crossed, and plants in which the desirable features of the parents are combined will be selected from the segregating progenies. With hybridization the best characteristics of the parent varieties may combine into a single true breeding strain. In this evaluation more than 200 lines and varieties of native and international nurseries, selected germplasm were planted. It includes lines with high yielding or disease resistance, with general or specific adaptability, or with desirable grain quality and the commercial local varieties such as Azadi, Ghods, Bayat, Darab, Roshan etc. One hundred nineteen crosses were made, out of which 115 crosses had enough seeds. One hundred twenty nineteen number of F1 generation, originated from the last year hybridization program, participated in this evaluation and used for complementary crosses.
