Monitoring of Demersal Stocks by Swept area method in the Oman sea(Chabahar Coastal Waters )

The research project of Monitoring of demersal resources by swept area method in the Oman sea &ldquowas carried out from Mar 2000- July 2001 . two Research Cruises were conducted by R/V Ferdows .1.The studied area was from Meidani ( 58 پ‹ 55پŒE) to Gwatr Bay (61 پ‹ 30پŒE) having depths of 10 to 100m. The studied area of 1164 nm2.,was divided to 5 sub regions ( A,B,C,D& E) each covering 30 minutes width, each region was divided in to 4 layer depths: 10-20 ,20-30 , 30-50 and 50-100m. In each cruises ,sampling was carried out for more than 65 stations using a bottom trawler .The following measurements were carried out: 1.Species identification was done collecting 124 specimen out of which 96 species were identified according to the keys available. 2. The seasonal and annual biomass for each region and stratum was estimated. The average annual biomass for the whole area was calculated to be 41830.3 tons and for each stratum of 10-20 , 20-30 ,30-50 and 50-100 m . indicating 22393.5 , 5492.9, 1398.1 and 12545.7 tons respectively. It is clear that the maximum biomass lays at the depth of 10-20 m . where as the minimum found at depth of 30-50 m. 3. For 10 fish species , length Frequency were studied in to 4 depth stratum and their seasonal distribution were surveyed on the base of Cpua.
