The study and determination of combining ability of late and medium maturing corn lines by test cross of B 73, MO 17 in early testing stage.

In order to have early testing of produced lines in S3 stage, Two experiments were conducted to select the best combination between 236 lines in late and medium corn. Lines crossed with two testers (B3 and MO17) in Islam-e-abad station in 2004. Produced hybrids were tested with compare to two checks (KSC 704 and KSC 700) in 2005. Data were collected and analysed. Means comparison of plant height, ear height, day to pollination and silking, seed row number and ear row number, cob %, mc% and yield were done. Some qualitative characters like seed texture type, seed color, ear cover, facility seed taker form cob in harvesting, stem and root lodging , plant diseased and early maturity were determined. Finally superior combination recognized and detected, So in B73 top cross experiment 116 superior combinations of 186 combinations and in Mo17 top cross experiment 104 superior combinations of 213 combinations were selected. In general selected 174 superior lines were selected form 236 lines.
