Fusarium spp. cause severe wilting and root rot in carnation (Dianthus caryophillus L.) world wide. The pathogen is present in the soil profile in which carnation roots are distributed.Fusarium oxysporum and F.equistei were isolated from carnation in Mahallat. In this study, effect of soil solarization on control of Fusarium wilt and root rot of carnation was compared to chemical method. The treatments were : 1-solarization of moisture soil for 4 week, 2-solarization of moisture soil for 6 week, 3-solarization of moisture soil for 6 week plus vapam (3.75g/m2), 4-solarization of moisture soil for 6 week plus cow manure (40 ton/ha), 5-vapam (7.5g/m2) , 6-moisture soil plus cow manure (40 ton/ha),7- moisture soil and 8- control, that were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replication.an estimation of Fusarium propagouls population was done before planting of carnation cuttings.statistical evaluation showed that treatment 1 to 5 hadn’t significant difference (p0.05). The most population of Fusarium was in control , 7 and 6 treatments, respectivly.due to results of this study using of soil solarization with transparent polyethylen sheets alone or with vapam and cow manure is recommended for controling of Fusarium wilt and root rot of carnation in Mahallat.
