Tetranychus evansi (Baker and Pritchard) (Acari Tetranychidae), a new pest for Italy [Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.; Liguria]

英语. For the first time, the tetranychid Tetranychus evansi is recorded in Italy. Specimens of this mite were collected, on mid-Autumn, on Solanum lycopersicum and Solanum nigrum plants, in fields in the San Remo (Imperia) area (Northern Italy). The phytophagous is included in the alert list of EPPO and is considered an invasive pest of tomato and other solanaceous crops. Tetranychus evansi is different from T. urticae in the orange-brown colour, the lack of the two dorsal dark spots, the arrangement of the tarsal setae of the first leg, the shape of the aedeagum. On tomato, the density of the tetranychids was medium-high and the specimens were mainly on the lower leaf surface. The damage is similar to the one described for T. urticae and other tetranychids. The evidence of light coloured spots on the upper surface of the leaf denotes the mite presence and these spots, more or less rapidly, become necrotic areas. The Italian record is one of the most Northern known. Presumably, the diffusion of the tetranychid in Italy will be confined to the areas with milder weather on field crops and widely on greenhouse crops. Tomato is the most favourite plant among all the other Solanaceae. Climatic and environmental conditions, the ability to colonize many spontaneous plants and the lacking of predators can make easier its diffusion. Per la prima volta viene segnalata la presenza in Italia del tetranichide Tetranychus evansi su piante di Solanum lycopersicum e Solanum nigrum in pieno campo, nei dintorni di San Remo (Imperia). Tale fitofago è inserito nella lista d'allerta dell'EPPO come specie in via d'espansione nell'area mediterranea e particolarmente temibile per le coltivazioni di pomodoro e di altre solanacee. Tetranychus evansi si differenzia da T. urticae per il colore fra l'arancio intenso e il mattone, l'assenza delle due tipiche macchie scure dorsali, la disposizioni delle setole tarsali del primo paio, la forma dell'edeago. Le infestazioni osservate su pomodoro erano di intensità medio-alta e gli esemplari erano concentrati principalmente sulla pagina inferiore delle foglie. La tipologia del danno risulta simile a quella riportata per T. urticae e altri tetranichidi. La comparsa di piccole macchie chiare sulla pagina superiore delle foglie in corrispondenza delle punture nutrizionali denota la presenza del fitofago e tali macchie evolvono più o meno velocemente in aree necrotizzate. Il reperto italiano è uno dei più settentrionali noti. E' presumibile che in Italia l'areale di diffusione di questa specie rimanga confinato alle regioni dal clima più mite per le colture in pieno campo, mentre potrebbe infestare ovunque colture mantenute in serra. La coltura più a rischio è sicuramente il pomodoro, seguito dalle altre solanacee. Le condizioni climatiche, la capacità di colonizzare molte piante spontanee e la mancanza di predatori naturali efficaci rappresentano sicuramente fattori che facilitano la sua diffusione
