Results of control trials against citrus phytophagous Thysanoptera [Citrus sinensis Osbeck; Calabria]

Within a research program on thysanoptera living on citrus and on damage caused to fruits by this phytophagous species, the following cultural practices were compared: weeding, tillage, treatment to the canopy and weeds. The trials were carried out from 2003 to 2005 on a cv Navelina orange grove. The population dynamic was monitored by blue chromotropic traps. At harvesting date, the injured fruits of treated trees were evaluated. Citrus thrips may cause damages to fruits that need control measures. Among them, dimethoate treatments and weeding have showed the same efficacy; tillage is not suggested

Nell'ambito di uno studio sul ruolo delle popolazioni dei tisanotteri presenti negli agrumeti e sulla verifica dei danni che le specie fitofaghe arrecano ai frutti, sono stati messi a confronto i seguenti interventi colturali: diserbo, fresatura, trattamenti insetticidi alle chiome e al tappeto erboso. Lo studio è stato effettuato nel triennio 2003-05 su arancio cv Navelina. La dinamica di popolazione è stata monitorata con trappole cromotropiche di colore azzurro. I danni sui frutti provenienti dalle piante trattate con i differenti metodi di lotta sono stati rilevati all'epoca della maturazione commerciale del prodotto. L'entità dei danni che i tisanotteri fitofagi possono arrecare ai frutti di agrumi è tale da rendere necessario ricorrere ai mezzi di lotta. Tra quelli messi in comparazione, il dimetoato distribuito su piante o su tappeto erboso e il diserbo sono risultati di pari efficacia; sconsigliabile la fresatura
