The economic impact of EU membership on agriculture in Turkey

Agricultural sector model was constructed with crop sub-sector and livestock sub-sector. These sub-sectors consisted of nearly 40 crop activities and 13 livestock activities. Under the constraints of input factor resources for four divided regions, the calibration model was constructed, based on demand and supply for each commodity. Using this base model, the results by the simulations were compared among four scenarios, such as moving towards the new agricultural supporting policy, targeting EU accession with three types. The comparison is based on the total economic surplus, i.e. producer surplus plus consumer surplus, as the welfare measurement.
