Effect of soil fumigation using virtually impermeable film on suppression of injury derived from root-knot nematobe [Meloidogyne] of melon [Cucumis melo] in sand dune areas

The present experiments were carried out to clarify the effect of soil fumigation using virtually impermeable film on suppression of injury derived from root-knot nematode in sand dune areas. The occurrence of injury resulting from root-knot nematode tended to be obstructed by using virtually impermeable film instead of polyethylene derivative. Experimental results revealed that, using virtually impermeable film after soil fumigation, the chloropicrin gas diffused at the distance 100cm apart from soil fumigation line and detected at the depth of 40cm below the surface of this position, and that amount of chloropicrin application was able to diminish at a third level.
