For steady production of high quality wheat at hilly and mountainous area, an attempt was made to find out the effects of tillage method on the growth, yield and appearance of the wheat. It was found that soils of non-tillage cultivation method loose its' dryness quickly after rain compared to the soils of tillage cultivation method. It was also found that the growth of wheat was stunted, and the number of tillers and ears were also little in non-tillage cultivation method. However, shallow tillage cultivation showed intermediate growth of wheat. The yield was high in tillage cultivation method in comparison with shallow tillage and non-tillage cultivation methods. However, the appearance quality of non-tillage cultivation was superior.
