[Feed barley for acquiring of qualitative meat]

Specialists of the Latvian State Stende Institute of Cereal Breeding evaluated quality of 51 spring barley varieties in 2007. Results of research that are confirmed already in USA, Canada and Australia show that right choice of barley varieties essentially influence efficiency of animal feeding. For barley the higher value is in cattle feed, average in swine, but the lowest in poultry feed. The article deals with the characterization of indices of barley grain quality, chemical composition and barley variety in feeding of different livestock breeds.
