The UPLB Termite Management Program is the first campus-wide project that deals with post-construction termite treatment of buildings in UPLB. From Nov 2003 to March 2005, all UP buildings were assessed and treated as found necessary. Seven species of termites were collected from the buildings - Coptotermes vastator light, Microcerotermes los-banosensis Oshima, Macrotermes gilvus (Hagen), Nasutitermes luzonicus (Oshima), Hospitalitermes luzonicus Oshima, Cryptotermes dudleyi Barks and Cryptotermes cyanocephalus Light. As observed, C. vastator infests most buildings. The project is being handled by the Crop Protection Cluster (formerly Department of Entomology), College of Agriculture, University of the Philippines Los Banos wherein an in-house certified pesticide applicator duly credited by the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority is tasked to supervise the termite treatment. The team is composed of 3-5 trained service technicians.
