The aim of the study was to identify if and to what degree the production systems differ with respect to organic carbon inflows and its accumulation in soils. The reserach was carried out in Wielkopolska Region in a group of 30 farms, representing three production systems: milk production, pig production and crop production, in the years 2002-03. The scope of the study covered the analysis of humus balance, determinig the inflow indicator of equivalent amount of plant residue and prediction of changes in the soil organic matter content. Organic carbon balances in animal production systems were positive and exceeded the level of 200 kg C-humus/ha. Plant production system was characterized by the negative carbon balance (-21.3 kg C-humus/ha)
