Tomato plants of cv. Terra F1 and Cunero F1 were grown in peat moss and foliar treated with two forms of K: KCl and K2SO4 and various doses of nitrogen. The effect of differentiated N-K fertilization on N, K, S, Cl in the medium and tomato leaves was observed. A higer concentration of N-NO3, K, S-SO4 and Cl in objects with KCl was investigated in comparison with K2SO4. The value of salinity was higher in KCl than in K2SO4 treatments. The highest influence on the EC value was exerted by potassium. Correlation coefficients for EC and K in the medium were r = 0.923 and r = 0.778 in years 1999 and 2000, respectively. The conteof N-org., N-NO3, K and S-SO4 in leaves was higher in treatments with K2SO4 in comparison with KCl. Tomato plants fertilized with KCl were characterized by lower content of sulphur (S-SO4) in leaves (20 percent) and in the medium (30 percent) in comparison with plants where K2SO4 was used
