The research was carried out on good wheat soil complexes in Podkarpackie region (Poland) during the years 2003-04. The chemical composition of grains from the Wanad variety of spring wheat-rye hybrid and the influence of faba bean, a component of mixtures, on changes in chemical composition of grains was analysed. With respect to the nutritional requirements of livestock feed, grains of wheat-rye hybrid were characterized by rather low content of K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Co but with a satisfying level of P, Cu and heavy metals. Although the K : (Ca + Mg) ratio in grains of spring wheat-rye hybrid was adequate that of K: Na was wide while that of Ca : P and Fe : Mn was rather narrow. The cultivation of spring wheat-rye hybrid in mixtures with faba bean did not in any way significant affect the chemical content wheat-rye grains. They were characterized however, by a higher total protein, Mg, K and Na content while that of fibre, Mn and Zn was low
