In the study conducted in 2002-2004 then was evaluated the effect of the method of transplants production on yield of leek Shelton cv. Seeds of leek were sown on 15 March and 15 April in the amounts of 2, 3, 5 and 10 g/sq. m. As the control treatment, then were used the seedlings produced in multicell trays. Transplants produced during the period of 12 weeks had a higher mean weight and stem diameter in comparison to there obtained from the later sowing. In both terms the best quality of transplants was assured by sowing 2 g of seeds per 1 sq. m. Increment of seed sowing from 2 to 10 g/sq. m resulted in the decrease of leek yield, but rot significant differences were found between using the transplants of 8 and 12 weeks old
