Effect of drip fertigation on the growth and yield of tomato in the field cultivation

Effect of broadcast nitrogen fertilization and drip fertigation with nitrogen, nitrogen and potassium, and complex fertilizers was investigated in the years of 2001-2003. Nitrogen fertilization alone in rate of 100 kg/ha, or applied with potassium or in complex fertilizer had positive effect on growth of tomato, increased content of total N in plants and yield of staked tomatoes as compare to control treatment and broadcast nitrogen fertilization with the same amount. However highest yield of staked tomato was obtained in the treatment with nitrogen fertigation in rate of 200 kg/ha. Fertigated plants had bigger leave area as well as content of fresh and dry matter as compare to broadcast fertilized plants.
