Effect of seed size on seeding value, yield and stand architecture of winter wheat

The aim of this research was to determine germinability, seedlings vigour, grain yield, yield components and stand architecture of winter wheat varieties: Nutka, Clever and Tonacja in dependence of seed size. The laboratory, pots and microplots experiments were performed in 2001-03 in IUNG Pulawy. The factors were: I - seed size, II - cultivars. The 4 levels of the first factor were taken in the experiment: seed certificate, big seeds, medium and small seeds. The experimental seed samples were separated from commercial certified seed lots. Plumpness grains characteristic in bigger emergence dynamics and bigger speed emergence. Biggest seeds and seed certificate caused increase of the number of plants and heads per area units
