Selected morphological characteristics of 34 Polish and foreign clones of willow (Salix) at one-year and two-year cutting cycles were presented in this study. The measure of growth was the increment in shoot length and thickness, and the estimation of plant habitat was performed on the basis of the shoot number on one plant. Measurements were made after finishing the plant vegetation season in 2006. The results obtained prove that the plant habitat is highly differentiated and there is a possibility of willow shoots elongation and their thickness increment. The selection of clones which in extensive cultivation on light soil give numerous, long and thick shoots might affect the increase in willow biomass production
