In the present paper an short historical overview on eggshell quality investigations, was presented. Different aspects of shell quality were reported to be partial replacement of finely ground limestone with oyster shell or larger particle size limestone in the diet. Also, the results of our last investigation of influence of additional feeding with larger particle size limestone on eggshell quality were presented. It was obtained that addition of 2 g/hen of granular limestone (particle size 1.1-1.4 mm) adding on the concentrate, during afternoon, significantly improved eggshell quality parameters (shell mass, shell deformation and shell breaking force).
