[The results of laboratory tests of biomaterials for chlamydiosis from heifers imported from Western European countries]

There are given results of comprehensive investigation for chlamydiosis of imported heifers among which abortions and stillbirth were observed during quarantine. Clinical epizootological and postmortem examinations undertaken to study dead heifers and stillborn calves allowed to find out an etiological role of Chlamydia in disease of livestock imported to Tatarstan. A postmortem examination of 5-6-month aborted feta has detected multiple hemorrhages in oral cavity, throat, larynx, on mucous abomasal membrane under epicardium. In thoracic, abdominal and pericardial regions from 100 to 250 ml of red exudate were present. In the lungs, extensive atelectasis necrosis focuses were observed, in liver enlarged 2-3 times – signs of protein apidose degeneration. In stillborn calves the macroscopic picture was similar to that in aborted feta. In the pathomaterial of 12 aborted feta and stillborn calves in 8 cases (67%) Chlamydiae were detected by microscopy, they subsequently were isolated on 6-7 day-old chicken embryos. During the investigation of 118 blood serous samples for chlamydiosis from sick animals in CFT 22 (19%) were responded positively. It is concluded about necessity of continuous control over the epizootic situation in farms and health of imported herd and, in particular, non-admission of spreading chlamydiosis in this region.
