[Hepatotropic preparations for correction of reproductive function in sows]

The prevalence of postnatal diseases in Large White sows and the effect of hepatoprotectors – depolen and diprolipamid on labor and viability of piglets were studied in conditions of a commercial pig breeding farm. Pyo-catarrhal puerperal endometritis was observed in 43.6% of animals, metritis-mastitis-agalactia (MMA) – in 18.3%. The stillbirth of piglets reached 5.37%, birth of weak-developed – 13.1%. A high correlation relationship has been found between pregnancy period and the incidence of cows: 114-115 days – 51.4%, 111-113 days – 67.7% and 116-118 days – 73.8%. Sows with MMA before farrow had typical immunodeficiency state, metabolic disorders, dysfunction of liver, failure of steroidogenesis. Only depolen prescribed at the dose of 2 ml/100 kg of body weight at day 32-35 of pregnancy and daily diprolipamid as a food additive since day 80 of pregnancy till farrow at the dose of 10 mg/kg had a normalizing effect on the functional state of liver, metabolism and steroid-producing function of fetoplacental complex. The most effect was achieved when using them in combination: the farrow period reduced up to 216.8 min (control – 291), the number of stillborn piglets – up to 0.54 (1.29); the weakly developed – up to 0.42 (1.04); the incidence of endometritis in sows reduced up to 26.9% (50.0%), MMA – 3.86% (16.7%). It is concluded that combined use of depolen and diprolipamid prevents postnatal diseases in sows and increases the survivability in piglets.
