In 5 sour cherry cultivars (Heimanns Konserven, Rexelle, Kelleris 14, Sumadinka and Cacanska Rubin) during 2007, the growth of pollen tubes in the styles of pistils 48 hours and 96 hours after the artificially pollination was observed by means of fluorescence microscopy. It was established that the percentage of pistils containing pollen tubes that penetrated to the ovary and the ovule increased with the number of hours after pollination while the mean number of pollen tubes found in the base of style and ovary in the most of observed cultivars did not show significant differences in dependence on number of days after pollination. The best results for all analyzed characteristics of pollen tube growth in sour cherry pistils were found in cultivar Rexelle and pollen tube growth in the pistil in vivo showed better results 96 hours than 48 hours after the pollination in majority cultivars which were observed in this paper.
