The objective of this study was to determine the interrelationship between total impurities and their components and the influence of wheat seed moisture on total germinability. Three wheat varieties developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, Serbia, were studied: Pobeda, Renesansa and Evropa. The study investigated three seed categories - basic seed, breeder seed and pre-basic seed, all packed in jumbo bags and warehoused until the month of October, i.e. till the start of processing. The samples were taken at the harvesting stage at reception and just before processing in order to make germinability estimates. With each variety, the following characteristics were studied: total impurities and their composition, seed moisture, test weight, germination energy, and germinability. The moisture content of the samples ranged between 13 and 17%. The analyses were performed at the Laboratory of the Processing Center of the Institute Small Grains Department at Rimski Sancevi.
