The aim of this paper is to signify a problem of heavy metal accumulation in the alluvial banks of Tisa (Serbia). The alluvial banks of the river Tisa, where this path investigation takes place, are used in agricultural production. Measurements were conducted on the soil by the river in the vinicity of the town of Senta, and on selected fruit and vegetable sorts from that locality. An increased content of almost all elements was found in locations flooded by the river in comparison to the referent level. The referent level was on 680 cm high of river bank. In some plants, concentrations of lead and cadmium were few times higher from the permited level. Besides, and increased concentration of Cu, Zn and Se was also detected. There is an evidence that the origin of detected pollutants is from the river.
