Enzymatic activities of microorganisms in the soil profile

Selected chemical (oxidizable carbon - C sub(ox), total nitrogen - N sub(tot), actual (pH/H sub(2)and exchangable (pH/KCl) soil reaction) and biological parameters (hot water extractable carbon - C sub(hwe), biomass of microorganisms - C sub(mic), dehydrogenase activity - DHA, phosphatase activity - FA, fluorescein diacetate hydrolysis - FDA) of Haplic Chernozems and Haplic Luvisols from south-western Slovakia were determined. The samples were taken to a depth of 0.9-1.0 m of the soil profile in spring 2001-03. The value of the investigated chemical and biological parameters were lower in Haplic Luvisols than in Haplic Chernozems. Significant correlations were found between DHA and C sub(ox), N sub(tot), C sub(mic), C sub(hwe), FDA on the both soils. Correlation was not confirmed only with FA on the Haplic Luvisols.
