The contribution presents notions from the complexity theory, which are relevant to landscape ecology, and enhances concept of the nonequilibrium thermodynamics of biologicaI and ecological systems, important for landscape quality evaluation. It briefly evaluates several methods used for evaluation of landscape ecological stability and points to some of their problems. Consequently, the paper presented outlines new ways how to determine coefficients of the ecological importance of the ecosystems and ecological importance of the landscape on the basis of their ecological integrity - as a measure of exergy dissipation. This leads to more precise evaluation of the landscape as a whole. Discussion includes short comparison of the results expected, which may be obtained by means of various methods of landscape diagnosis and also proposes application of a new theory.
