Biotech oilseed rape (rapeseed) or biotech canola include herbicide tolerant varieties and lines (tolerant to the glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, bromoxynil), varieties and lines with altered oil fatty acid composition (high lauric acid), phytase-expressig and displaying pollination control systems (male sterility and fertility restoration). Biotech oilseed oil is a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids, monosaturated fat, antioxidants and phytosterols, all of which may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular and cancer diseases.
