The effect of local applications of the Amofos fertilizer in growing maize (Zea mays L.)

Three-year small-plot trials were established with the hybrid maize Diana on soil with a good supply of phosphorus. Comparisons were made between local applications of the amofos fertiliser (12% N, 52% P2O5) and broadcast dressing in doses of 70 and 140 kg fertilizer per ha. The chemical composition of the plants was estimated in the stage of the 4th leaf, and at harvest the cob yields, the rest of the plant and the yields of total dry matter of the silage mass were evaluated. The effect of local applications was positive and increased the concentrations of N and P in the early stages of growth; the P content ranged above 0.51%. The conditions of the year significantly affected the yields. In the two experimental years 70 kg per ha of amofos increased the total yields of dry matter of the silage mass by 8.46-8.60% compared to the not fertilized variant, and by 2.99-12.30% compared to the same broadcast-applied dose. Compared to the lower dose, 140 kg of Amofos per ha had no effect on the total yields of the silage mass.
