Genetical determination of nutrient uptake and accumulation by plant roots was analysed by investigation of individual phosphate fluxes (influx and efflux) in geneticaly different lines and hybrids of Zea mays. Results approved the fact of 2-4 times higher phosphorus accumulation in Zea mays inbred lines (Pa 36 and WH) compared to the LSP hybrid. Differencies found in phosphorus accumulation in analysed genotypes could be related to different extent of metabolisation and utilization of phosphate ions.
