Effects of planting date on flowering of Freesia hybrida

Nine cultivars of freesia corms i.e. Rapid White(R) Varawit, Oberon, St, Tropez, White Wings (R) Vaduble, Michelle(R) Richaumet, Blue Lady(R) Scorpios, Blue Heaven(R), Golden Wave(R) Vacoro and Orangina(R) Ricagina were stored at 8-13 deg C. Corms were sampled to grow in the field every week during October 1, to December 3. The Effects of planting date on flowering of 9 cultivars of freesia were investigated. The results show that number of days from planting to anthcsis, number of leaves/plant, plant height, number of florest/spike and length of flower stalk of freesia tended to decrease at later planting date.
