Implementation of food quality and safety standards in the Bulgarian food enerprises

The article presents basic results of the research on the implementation of food quality and safety standards in the Bulgarian food enterprises. The basic goal of the research is to reveal the social and economic effects of dtsndards' implementation, mainly for small and medium enterprises. The analysis stresses on standards of food quality and safety, working conditions, and environment protection. 326 enterprises from four sensitive food sectors are investigated through the standartized questionnaire.These sectors are meat and dairy production; fruit and vegetable cans; bread, bread and sweet articles. The field survey took place in the period June-October 2007.
