The new semi-sugar beet variety Hybrid 56 is a monogerm triploid hybrid obtained by crossing the dihaploid monogerm line 19-66 with the tetraploid multigerm fodder beet pollinator SKR. The hybrid is with the high root yield of the fodder beet and the positive economic qualities of the sugar beet - monogermity, increased dry matter content, resistance to bolting and diseases, uniformity of roots in form and positioning in the ground. The hybrid gives higher root yield than the Standard - 5038 kg/da in years with strongly expressed water deficiency, and in years with normal vegetation rainfalls - 6578 kg/da. The stable high yield is combined with significantly increased dry matter content. The yield of dry matter per an unit of area of Hybrid 56 is significantly higher than the yield of the standard varieties during the years of tesing - 922 kg/da, and reaches 1156 kg/da in the tests of the Variety Trials Executive Agency under irrigation.
