Studied was the influence of three levels of nitrogen and potassium fertilization on the contents of total nitrogen, soluble carbohydrates and nicotine in the leaves of Krumovgrad oriental tobacco varieties (Krumovgrad 988, Krumovgrad 90, Krumovgrad 58, Akhrida and Zlatna Arda), which are basic for the tobacco production in this region. The applied fertilization rates influence the basic qualitative indices of tobacco as follows: The carbohydrate content varies within the limits: 9.81-11.6% for Zlatna Arda; 8.5-13.60% for Akhrida; 10.5-13.10% for Krumovgrad 988; 12.5-14.1% for Krumovgrad 58 and 13.0-13.7% for Krumovgrad 90. The total nitrogen content varies within the limits: 1.79-2.03% for Krumovgrad 988; 1.1-1.59% for Zlatna Arda; 1.58-1.90 for Akhrida; 1.53-1.64% for Krumovgrad 58 и 1.62-1.90% for Krumovgrad 90. The nicotine content varies within the limits: 0.82-0.90% for Krumovgrad 988; 0.72-1.01% for Zlatna Arda; 1.06-1.11% for Akhrida; 0.74-0.76% for Krumovgrad 58 и 0.83-1.03% for Krumovgrad 90.
