[Influence of abscisic acid on the formation of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) plants resistance to Fusarium oxysporum]

Research of the influence of seed and root treatment of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) with the exogenous abscisic acid on the physiological state of plants cultivated in hydroponic culture conditions and their resistance to Fusarium oxysporum was realized in the Republic of Belarus. Research results showed that presence of abscisic acid (10E-6) in the incubation medium of tomato seeds caused the 2-fold retardation of seed germination ability (besides, full seed germination took place only in 10 days as contrasted with the control group where the full germination took place in 6 days), but at the same time stimulated the accumulation of dry biomass of the germinating seedlings at different stages of the vegetation development. It was revealed that the preliminary root treatment of 4-month old tomato plants with abscisic acid increased plant resistance to the water deficiency and Fusarium wilt disease. At the same time, the prior abscisic acid treatment stimulated the generation of hydrogen peroxide, increased the content of anthocyanin pigments and lowered the accumulation rate of lipid peroxidation caused by Fusarium oxysporum. It was proved that prior abscisic acid treatment caused the formation of acquired immunity and increased the protective capacity of plants under subsequent biotic stress
