This study was conducted during 2001-2002 at the experimental area of Agricultural Research Institute of Kahramanmaras, to determine the effect of nitrogen fertilization (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/ha) and the dif" ferent row spaces (60, 70 and 80 cm) on plant height, number of monopodial and sympodial branches, number of bolls/plant, seed-cotton weight ~Cj.nd seed-cotton yield and the effect of row spaces x nitrogen interaction in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). Number of monopodial and sympodial branches and seed-cotton yield in 2001 "and 2002, and plant height and bolls/plant in 2001 were affected by row spacing. The highest seed-cotton yield was obtained with 60 cm row space. All of the investigated properties except seed-cotton weight/boll were affected by nitrogen application doses and the highest seed-cotton yield was obtained with the 200-250 kg N/ha. The effect of row space x nitrogen interaction was generally significant, except plant height. The result showed that the effect of different nitrogen treatments could be changed according to the different row spaces.
